California Notary Public Code Guidelines on Mobile Notary Fees

Government Code section 8211 specifies the maximum fees that may be charged for notary
public services. In addition to the fees for notarizations, notaries may charge an additional travel fee. The travel fee is not regulated and must be disclosed separately.

Immigration Forms

A notary public qualified and bonded as an immigration consultant may enter data, provided by the client, on immigration forms provided by a federal or stage agency – Maximum Fee is $15 per individual for each set of forms

All services rendered in connection with taking a deposition. For instances – Maximum Fee is $15 for each signature. Administering the oath to the witness- Maximum Additional Fee of $7. Certificate to the deposition – Maximum Additional Fee of $7.

When can a California Notary Public NOT charge a fee?

• California notary publics appointed to military and naval reservations
• When verifying any nomination document or circulator’s affidavit
• A notary working for a public entity for services rendered in an affidavit, application, or voucher in relation to securing a pension
• A notary may not charge a fee to a United States military veteran for notarization of an application or a claim for a pension, allotment, allowance, compensation, insurance, or any other veteran’s benefit
• No fee can be charged to notarize signatures on vote by mail ballot identification envelopes or other voting materials.
